Rose For Her Valentine (And A Kurkure)

February 7, 2025

Home

It was the week of Valentine’s, a wonderful week of the year. Beautiful and pleasant weather, love and warmth in the air, and the constant eagerness, looking forward to a week full of compassionate embraces and surprises.

In between office hours on such a Friday afternoon, the doorbell rang.

The day before, as we were driving towards Sonarpur to drop Dona home, we were discussing our favourite chips and other junk food. We found a commonality between us - a love for Kurkure. And just like that, a difference between us - our love for different flavours of Kurkure.

As I opened the door, I was hit by the sight of a delivery executive from Zepto.

He was carrying a paper bag containing a perfectly fresh rose, wrapped in white translucent paper and tied with a golden ribbon.

That was not all.

Along with it in the bag, came a bigger bag of Kurkure, in the light green flavour. Tangy, sweet and spicy - precisely my favourite. Of course - no secrets had been kept since the night before, and we just saw some perfect use of that.

It was hard to maintain calm on client meetings that day. The constant blushing, the memories, the thought of her thoughtfulness.

Dona is precious - not for the things she does, but also for the direction her mind and her heart work in.

My first ever Valentine’s day that had a sense of meaning.

Not just another Friday of the week.

Not just another Monday at work.

But one, where I felt that I belonged somewhere :)
