Printed Proposal

New Town, Kolkata

It was time.

V-Day.

Finally a non-empty Valentine’s Day to celebrate in my adult life. I had the company I always wanted, and I had a good time to look forward to.

Coincidentally enough, it also happened to be the birthday of Abantika, one of Dona’s colleagues. The night before, they had decided to spend the night together at her place in New Town in celebration of the same.

I was supposed to pick Dona from Abantika’s place and head straight for a cute lunch date in China Town (something we had been looking forward to for ages). Upon reaching the super luxurious apartment complex, I was invited upstairs.

Abantika, Soumili and Dona were chatting and organising the room amidst the aftermath of what appeared to be a fun driven party, while Abantika’s boyfriend Aditya (a.k.a Ramu Kaka) kept himself busy in the kitchen frying chicken nuggets for the group.

An hour passed by with a few laughs and bites, while Dona half-heartedly applied for a sick leave at office - at the same time rejoicing the newly allotted project that had dawned upon Aditya.

As Dona shuts the laptop and proceeds to get her bag from the adjacent bedroom, she approaches me with an envelope and an innocent yet playful smile - almost like she was guilty of what was about to happen next. Aditya joined in and passed a few playful comments on the childish nature of this lovely lady.

I opened the envelope - and within, I saw a card. A big, majestic card. Printed in black.

I swung the card open, and in a perfectly circular motion, descended a rose in the hand of a nicely suited up origami man.

“Dipuuuuuuu

Will you Be Mine?”

- read the card.

“Dear Dipu

PS: I know its cringe… but our first valentine’s day plus kabhi kabhi chalta hai

From

Prerona (Dona)”

- read the envelope

I have heard of crazy Valentine’s Day proposals.

And this is the cutest so far :)
